Abstract

Even with the increase in presentations and literature on disability in the writing center, it can be difficult to apply concepts to one’s local context and to recognize which areas are in need of reinvention.  In this workshop, participants will engage in small group discussion to consider accessibility and disability in the everyday practices of their center. Participants will apply both broad and focused perspectives on accessibility, in areas such as staff interviews, tutor training, and center policy. In addition to facilitating discussion, this session will share ideas from disability scholarship and provide a suggested reading list.
